Schmerz im Auge, oder: Ikonische Migräne
English:
The work „Schmerz im Auge, oder: ikonische Migräne“ plays with escaping the grid as a constructive option. The clear, austere grid creates a lively visual impression when superimposed onto itself. By slightly offsetting individual lines in one of the two transparent layers, the portrait of Leigh Bowery also becomes visible. An icon of London‘s 80s and 90s club scene, who himself broke free from any grid.
Not elegant and subdued, but with great sounds, shining, screaming, singing. The bigger and more absurd the better. Lively and with a great desire for confrontation - just like the disruptive image that is used in this work as a positive, essential and sometimes unpleasant effect. Self-expression beyond any reason, paining the eye of society, an illusionary side effect of everyday‘s grid.
