Bread is at the core of my artistic practice as a medium of abstraction and storytelling, but much more foundationally, it is at the core of my values and beliefs. Sharing food with others, mindfully and with intention is something I grew up with. Sharing this sensibility and reframing service as a practice drives me towards artistic interventions that often seem more mundane than they are.
During this 20-minute meditation the festival visitors were asked to engage with the sourdough I had brought with all their senses – touch, smell, hearing and of course - taste.
During this I shared the relevance of sourdough for my life and practice and traced the history of my sourdough starter.
