"Digital Ruins" asks:"What does a world look and feel like, in which we have to leave behind our personal archives? How will we cope with the loss of our most personal data?"

Modern ways of data storage provide us with seemingly infinite space for memories and stories. While these technologies are incessantly trying to appear elusive and magical, they are reliant on and made up of physical matter. This means they are tied to tangible limitations.
With growing data complexity and demand, this means data accumulation might become an unaffordable endeavor to most.
Picturing this speculative future lets us reconsider and reflect on the blind trust we are granting digital preservation methods nowadays and re-evaluate our uninhibited relationships to digital data accumulation.
