The Butterfly is a personal symbol for a [queer] dialogue that is preemtively censored.
One that can never take place at the right time - one that comes too late and thus asks into question its sincerity. It also represents the claim to be deserving of such dialogue - even if that realisation comes in hindsight.

The symbol stems from autobiographical writing that preceded the project by a few months. The dough used to create analog frames consists of flour, water and salt and is burned using digital production techniques. The final baking of the frames foregrounds the dough’s memory, bending and warping the frames slightly.
